The Berkeley Halifax is a very unique and cozy 52-apartment unit retirement living building with services for seniors. It is nestled in the south end of Halifax within walking distance of two grocery stores and the many attractions of downtown. The building has a variety of comfortable common spaces – library, solarium lounge, main lounge, TV lounge, exercise/games room and a lovely outdoor garden and courtyard. Our Memory Care space on the fourth floor has a very special ambiance with brightly coloured walls and cheerful artwork. Conveniently located close to the hospitals, we also offer short-term Respite Care at this location ranging from one night to as long as is necessary.

'I came from Ontario to The Berkeley Halifax 2 ½ years ago, after the devastating loss of my husband, to be near my family where I grew up. My husband and I had only been married 9 months. Gloria and Gail were instrumental in smoothing my transition and made me feel like I was home and connected with others at The Berkeley. Soon I felt like I was part of The Berkeley family. I love my comfortable apartment and friends. Marion and Kay who manage the entry desk truly go beyond their duties to help and guide us. Darlene, Christine and Emma are outstanding nurses. Also, in dining, Chef Al and Server Casey are extraordinary. When Lynda, the Activities Director, came, a whole new dimension opened for me. She is one of the most insightful and talented persons I've met. For example, she helped me incorporate my post-surgery shoulder exercises into our general exercises. Soon I felt stronger and more able to use my arm and regain my balance. Lynda's activities are wonderful. She listens to us and makes it possible to attend movies, wine-tasting, the parks in Halifax, lunches out and, a highlight for me, was our trip to the Nova Scotia Tattoo. Lynda makes sure each person is assisted and comfortable. She is attentive during each activity and outing. I feel safe. She is a wonderful asset to The Berkeley. Her kindness, humour and laughter brighten our day.'

Sandy2019-05-01The Berkeley is new and it just opened. The appearance is great, the place is medium-sized, and the memory care is separate. They have hairdressing for the ladies. The room my mom is going to move into is spacious and well-furnished. The dining room is more of a contemporary styling. The staff does a great job. The parking is plentiful and the outside is well-landscaped. It's more of in a nature setting.I visited this facility
